Providers & models

Choose the model that fits the work. Keep credentials and limits understandable.

Choose your provider

Open Settings → Providers. Ankita supports GitHub Copilot, Groq, Kilo and OpenAI-compatible providers. Select a model from the provider’s available catalogue, then save your settings.

For GitHub Copilot, follow the device sign-in shown by the app. Groq and authenticated gateway models need the corresponding account credentials. For a custom OpenAI-compatible service, enter its API base URL and key in provider settings. Never put a key in a chat message or bug report.

About free models

A free model is supplied by its provider, not hosted by Ankita. The model list, availability and rate limits can change. Kilo’s keyless free option does not mean every Kilo model can run without credentials. Select a currently available free model or configure an account for other models.

When a request fails

  • HTTP 429: the provider has reached a rate or usage limit. Wait before retrying, check the account quota, or choose an available model.
  • Missing credentials: confirm the selected provider and save its credentials in Settings → Providers.
  • Generation error: check the selected model and provider account. A model can be listed while temporarily unavailable.
  • Slow replies: compare models on the same task. Tool-heavy work needs multiple model rounds; provider latency and browser work both contribute.

Understand the handoff

Desktop configuration is stored locally. The prompt and context you send are processed by the selected provider under its own terms. Choosing a provider is also choosing where that model request goes.

Based on Ankita’s maintained product guides. Settings and availability can vary by version.
